EditorialWe hope this newsletter finds you all getting out, rushing around dreaming up travel story ideas, finding target magazines to pitch them to, and cranking out those query letters! We’re currently in Seattle, Washington, riding out a very wet, snowy and icy winter, dreaming flashbacks of last year’s trips to Madrid (Spain), Lisbon and Porto (Portugal) and Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Split (Croatia). We’re planning a month-long trip to Vietnam later this year and New Zealand in early 2024. We’re always excited to hear of the writing successes by graduates of our travel writing and marketing workshops. Sandy Bornstein, one of our 2017 Seattle graduates has written and published 100 Things to do in Boulder Before You Die.Sandy’s book covers what and where to eat in Boulder, music and entertainment, sports and recreation, culture and history, and shopping and fashion. If you’re planning a trip to Boulder, Colorado, or live there, we heartily recommend this book to show you how to make the most of your time there. I’ve been to Boulder a few times and seen some of the sights and attractions, but Sandy’s book opened up a new dimension to this fun city, offering insights that only a local would know about. Here’s the Amazon.com link to her book:

The chances of placing your stories are much higher. All it takes is knowing the right way to approach expat publications.
Expat magazines (and websites) are aimed at people living overseas or working overseas. This includes those who travel long-term, or slow-travel from one country to another. Here’s what you need to know to break into expat magazines . . .

It’s called The Best of Roy’s Blogs: Roy’s Solutions for Selling More Travel Stories, Writing Better, and Earning More Money. You need to have a lot of skills to be successful in the freelance travel writing game. In the past fifteen years I’ve been bombarded with hundreds of email questions about many aspects of travel writing. The blogs you’re about to read are my succinct answers to these urgent questions. They provide quality solutions in summary form to the myriad challenges travel writers face. Even better, at the end of each blog I give you the link to a more detailed and comprehensive coverage of each topic so you can continue on to a more in-depth post on our website PitchTravelWrite.com. Follow the advice dispensed in this eBook and you’ll earn more from your travel writing by selling more stories and improving your travel writing. This compilation is far more specialized for travel writers than what you’ll find in Writer’s Market. Compiled over fifteen years from a wide variety of online sources, field resources, and book references, this comprehensive list includes international publications for the English-speaking market.
